Influence of vapors of organic substances and of ultraviolet radiation emitted by a surface on the optical breakdown threshold

An experimental investigation was made of a reduction in the optical breakdown threshold in air under the influence of ethanol vapor and of ultraviolet radiation generated by microdischarges on target surfaces. Use was made of CO₂ laser pulses of 3 μs duration.
