Coherent effects in hyper-Raman scattering of a 2nπ pump pulse

A new effect is predicted in the case of coherent two-photon excitation of a medium consisting of four-level atoms by a 2πn pump pulse: such excitation generates radiation at the hyper-Raman frequency. This takes the form of n successive pulses whose intensity increases toward the trailing edge of the pump pulse.
