Abstract:
An investigation was made of the absorption of the P(22) λ = 9.6 μ CO2 laser radiation by the OCS molecule. The detuning of the wavelength of this radiation relative to the ( ν = 0, J = 5)⇒( ν2 = 2, J = 4) transition of the ν2 mode was estimated (Δν ≤0.01 cm–1). The intramode pτ = (1.3 ± 0.25)×10–6 sec·Torr and rotational pτ = (2.9 ± 0.6)×10–8 sec·Torr relaxation constants were measured. The infrared and ultraviolet resonance method was used in the study of the kinetics of vibrational excitation. Stimulated emission was obtained at λ = 18.92 μ as a result of pumping with CO2 radiation and the characteristics of an optically pumped OCS laser were investigated.
