Abstract:
Analytic methods and numerical modeling are used in an analysis of the main relationships governing coherent excitation of exciton–polariton excitations by optical pulses of duration much less than the transverse relaxation time. It is shown that solitons can form as a result of a resonant parametric interaction if a group mismatch of the waves is allowed for. Calculations are reported of the profile and width of steady-state pulses, and of the group velocity of solitons. The conditions under which bound parametric solitons appear are also discussed.
