Investigation of the optical strength of dielectric mirrors in a xenon-laser resonator

Abstract: An investigation was made of the optical strength of dielectric (LaF3 + MgF2) mirrors in a xenon-laser resonator (λ = 172.5 nm). When these mirrors were used, the maximum power density (> 120 MW/cm2) exceeded considerably the damage threshold reported earlier for metal-dielectric (Al + MgF2) mirrors.
