Abstract:
A passive distributed bistable system in the form of a resonator with a nonlinear absorber receiving a continuous external signal is considered. Propagation of a quasirectangular pulse (quasisoliton) of duration less than the round trip time in the resonator and with an exponentially small instability increment is predicted. The simplest models of dispersion are considered and an analysis is made of the properties of a quasisoliton on the basis of the above models.
