Abstract: A study was made of a nitrogen ultraviolet laser excited by a discharge creeping on the surface of an insulator. It was found that the output radiation from such a laser was characterized by a low divergence and a high power density. Stable operation of the laser was achieved using nitrogen and air at a pulse repetition frequency of 500 Hz without replacing the gas.
