Abstract:
A report is given of a theoretical and experimental investigation of the influence of the grating period on the emission of E and H waves from corrugated diffused waveguides. The results obtained include the condition for and explanation of the absence of emission of E waves for certain grating and waveguide parameters. An analysis is made of the emission from a corrugated waveguide in the case of noncollinear incidence of a surface wave on the grating. A ~70 % efficiency is reported for the coupling of light into a diffused waveguide.
