Abstract:
The passive
Q
-switching of 1.66-μm Er
3+
:YAlO
3
lasers with the help of some saturable absorbers is studied. Giant 200-ns pulses are generated by using a Cr
2+
:ZnSe crystal as a saturable absorber.
