Passive Q-switching of a 1.66-μm Er3+:YAlO3 laser by means of a Cr2+:ZnSe crystal

Abstract: The passive Q-switching of 1.66-μm Er3+:YAlO3 lasers with the help of some saturable absorbers is studied. Giant 200-ns pulses are generated by using a Cr2+:ZnSe crystal as a saturable absorber.
