Formation of subfemtosecond laser pulses in aperiodically poled nonlinear-optical crystals

Abstract: The method of synthesis of ultrashort laser pulses in nonlinear aperiodically poled crystals based on the simultaneous generation of several higher optical harmonics is considered. The interaction of four waves with multiple frequencies involving three mutually coupled nonlinear three-frequency processes is studied. It is shown that by introducing intense laser radiation into a crystal, pulses of duration of the order of a few hundreds of attoseconds can be produced at the crystal output.
