Abstract:
Pulsed oscillation of a diode-pumped passively Q-switched Nd3+:Ca3Ga2Ge3O12 (Nd:CGGG) solid-state laser is studied. For the absorbed pump power of 0.8 W, the pulse energy was 3.5 μJ and the pulse rise time, duration and decay time were 6, 11 and 13 ns, respectively. The pulse repetition rate varied from 3 to 13 kHz when the absorbed pump power was changed from 0.45 to 1 W. It is shown that all the temporal parameters of the generated pulse decrease with increasing the absorbed pump power. The sensitivities of these parameters and the pulse repetition rate to changes in the absorbed pump power and the laser resonator length are measured. The results of the research are compared with the corresponding results for the pulsed Nd:YAG laser operating under the same conditions.
