Abstract:
The spectra of two-photon-excited luminescence of solid DNA were determined. They were compared with the corresponding spectra of nitrogenous bases of nucleic acids. The luminescence spectrum of such a compound is a wide asymmetric band, located in the range 285–440 nm, which is typical of aromatic compounds. The intensity of two-photon-excited luminescence of nitrogenous bases of DNA is an order of magnitude less than that of aromatic amino acids.
