Abstract: We report a theoretical analysis and experimental study of the possibility of producing a novel type of interferometric near-field aperture probe for near-field optical microscopy systems using a fibre Fabry–Perot microcavity with a nanometre-scale aperture made in one of its output mirrors. The probe ensures a spatial resolution no worse than λ/14.
