Abstract:
A magnetically tunable laser, emitting in the range 9.6–12.2 ì, was constructed. It was pumped with various ÑO2 laser lines hi the range 10.2–10.9 ì. Stimulated emission from this laser was obtained at the Stokes and anti-Stokes frequencies. A system composed of a gate amplifier and a signal store was used to record the absorption spectrum of ammonia in the 11 ì range. The measured width of the stimulated emission line, which governed the resolution of the laser spectrometer, was 0.2 cm–1. Factors responsible for the broadening of this line were considered.
