Cuts of lithium niobate crystals suitable for light modulators with a low half-wave voltage

New cuts of lithium niobate crystals, suitable for the modulation of light in respect of phase and polarization, are found. These cuts are characterized by lower half-wave voltages than the 0 and 90° cuts employed at present.
