Abstract:
The prototype schemes of a microoptical gyroscope (MOG) developed to date on the basis of passive ring cavities imply the use of the amplitude characteristic only, since they operate using the dip in the transmission coefficient. We have analysed the possibility of creating a MOG, in which the phase characteristic is used as well. The phase characteristic of a ring interferometer has distinctive features in the vicinity of the cavity eigenfrequencies, which may be used to determine the angular velocity. A method for the angular velocity determination using both the phase and the amplitude characteristics of the interferometer is considered.
