Abstract:
We examine the selection of the fundamental transverse mode in a directly multimode-diode-pumped Raman laser with a cavity formed by fibre Bragg gratings (FBGs) in a graded-index fibre. The application of FBGs recorded by femtosecond radiation in the central region of the fibre core provides an unprecedentedly high (for lasers of this type) beam quality (M2 < 1.2) at a lasing power above 5 W.
