1-W transversely diode-pumped metastable Ar* laser

Abstract: We report the results of experiments on a laboratory model of an optically pumped inert-gas mixture laser. Under conditions of transverse pumping, the output power of the metastable Ar* laser is 1 W. In experiments, use is made of a working mixture of 98% He + 2% Ar.
