Abstract:
We consider the process of super-high-power controlled radiation generation in the terahertz range by discharge currents excited by irradiation of an extended target of a given geometry by multipetawatt laser pulses. It is shown that the use of several laser pulses makes it possible to proportionally increase the intensity of the emitted terahertz pulses at a radiation conversion coefficient of the order of several percent. A scheme is proposed for the interference amplification of terahertz pulses in a given direction during synchronous irradiation of several identical targets.
