Abstract:
n this paper, the optical and generation characteristics of a solid-state laser based on a ceramic active medium YAG are investigated.:Nd3+ (1 atm. %), operating in passive Q-factor modulation mode. Laser pulse packets with single pulse durations of 50 ns and 450 ns were obtained using ceramic YAG elements as solid-state passive modulators with chromium (Cr) ion concentrations of 0.1 at.% and 1 at.%, respectively. Changes in the duration and energy of a solid-state laser pulse are experimentally demonstrated when radiation is modulated using saturating absorbers based on transparent ceramics. The values of the effective interaction cross section for the ground state of the studied modulator σGS= 1.05×10-18 and 2.08×10-18 cm2 (for 1at. % and 0.1atm. % chromium content) and the values of the effective interaction cross-section for the excited state σES= 1.32×10-19 and 2.62×10-19 cm2, with a spectral cross-section of the laser transition σ=2.8×10-19 cm2.
