Abstract:
The magnetic-dipole interaction of an ultrashort circularly polarized pulse with a two-level σ-transition stemming from hyperfine splitting of an electronic state is investigated. A parametric generation of two high-frequency spectral components corresponding to nutation in the ultrastrong field of the pulse is possible in this system. The frequencies of these two components can be varied smoothly as a function of the power in the ultrashort pulse. Harmonics of the impressed signal are absent from the spectrum under these conditions.
