Dynamics of superradiance in an optical cavity

The dynamics of superradiance in an optical cavity is analyzed under conditions such that a population grating is induced through degenerate four-wave mixing of counterpropagating waves. The initial field distribution which maximizes the radiative decay rate is determined.
