Calculation of the kinetics of a CO laser allowing for multiquantum VV exchange

Abstract: A new model is proposed for the vibrational kinetics in mixtures of gases containing CO molecules. The model is based on the multiquantum VV-exchange rate constants calculated by G D Billing using a semiclassical method. The results of calculations of the distribution function representing the populations of the vibrational levels of the CO molecules, obtained on the basis of this model, can be matched satisfactorily to experimental data without recourse to any fitting parameters.
