Abstract: Deexcitation of dye molecules by the stimulated emission was used to reduce the duration of the ultrashort pulses from a synchronously pumped dye laser. This accelerated the formation of the output pulses and stabilized their profile. Mathematical modeling showed that the pulse duration could be more than halved by selecting a suitable delay and deexciting pulse energy.
