Control of laser pulse duration by nonlinear absorption in semiconductors

Abstract: An investigation was made of the operation and the principal characteristics of ruby and neodymium lasers emitting pulses of continuously variable duration (in the 30–700 nsec range). The pulse duration was controlled by CdS and CdSe crystals, which were used as negative feedback elements.
