Numerical analysis of the influence of aberrations such as coma and astigmatism on the quality of phase conjugation accompanying stimulated Brillouin scattering
Abstract:
A numerical analysis was made of the influence of aberrations such as coma and astigmatism on the quality of phase conjugation accompanying stimulated Brillouin scattering. It was found that coma appreciably reduces the optical conjugation fidelity, from 0.6 when Δλ0.5 = 0 to 0.2 when Δλ0.5 = 5λ. The presence of astigmatism negligibly influences the phase conjugation quality. In addition, in both cases an increase in aberrations results in a linear rise in the stimulated Brillouin scattering threshold.
