Abstract: A monostatic biaxial Doppler lidar apparatus was made utilizing a hybrid CO2 laser with an intracavity telescopic beam expander. The energy per laser pulse was 10 mJ, the pulse duration was 3–5 μs, and the pulse-repetition frequency was up to 10 Hz. The lidar was intended for measuring the radial component of the wind velocity in the lower troposphere with a probing range of 3–6 km.
