Abstract:
The refractive indices of magnesium- and yttrium-doped lithium niobate crystals were determined in the visible and infrared ranges. A calculation was made of the coefficients in the Sellmeier formula describing the dispersion of the refractive indices of the ordinary and extraordinary waves in the wavelength range 0.4–1.1 μm. The method of parametric scattering of light was used in a study of the dispersion of a crystal containing 5 mol.% MgO; this was done in the infrared range of wavelengths right up to 5 μm. The angular characteristics of frequency doublers made of doped lithium niobate crystals were determined.
