Abstract: A high-power femtosecond excimer XeCl laser system was used to generate radiation of over 1015 W/cm2 intensity on the surface of a target. X-ray pulses were emitted by a laser-generated plasma. The duration of these pulses was less than 7 ps and the energy was in excess of 0.2 keV.
