Induced absorption of pump radiation and lasing thresholds of a POPOP solution

The cross sections for absorption of pump radiation at the 355 and 266 nm wavelengths by POPOP molecules in the lowest excited singlet and triplet states were determined. The stimulated emission thresholds for a solution of POPOP in cyclohexane, calculated using measured absorption cross sections, showed good agreement with the experimental results.
