Spectral compression of ultrashort laser pulses

A study is made of the possibility of using fiber-grating compression devices for reducing the width of ultrashort laser pulses. The results are given of numerical investigations of the process of self-interaction of frequency-modulated pulses in single-mode fiber waveguides used to optimize the spectral compressor.
