New lasing transition in the Tm3+ ion

Abstract: An investigation was made of a new lasing transition in the Tm3+ ion, 3H43F4 (corresponding to emission at the wavelength of 1.482 μ in BaYb2F8:Tm3+ and at 1.4625 μ in LiYbF4:Tm3+), which was pumped in several stages by neodymium laser radiation.
