Abstract:
Fluctuations of the lasing development time and of the duration of ultrashort pulses were investigated under various conditions of control of the Q factor of a pulsed YAG:Nd laser with active mode locking. It was found that the main cause of these fluctuations was instability of the pump energy, and qualitative dependences of the development time on the pump energy and the Q factor of the resonator were obtained. Jitter-free generation of ultrashort pulses with highly stable duration and energy was achieved by control of prelasing using a negative feedback loop.
