Mode locking in a cw YAG:Nd3+ laser by a saturable absorber

Abstract: Locking of longitudinal modes in a cw solid-state laser by the use of a saturable absorber was demonstrated experimentally for the first time. A study was made of the dependence of the nature of lasing on the density of the absorber.
