Distribution of molecules between vibrational levels under time-dependent external pumping conditions

A theoretical analysis is made of the possibility of inversion of the population of the vibrational levels of a molecule by external pumping which depends exponentially on time. The nature of the population distribution is deduced and the inversion conditions are obtained.
