Abstract:
An experimental investigation was made of a self-induced change of the polarization in an elliptic single-mode fiber waveguide due to a change in the refractive index in a strong field of a laser pulse. The experimental dependence of the energy of an output pulse on the energy coupled into the investigated waveguide was determined. The threshold power for a self-induced change in the polarization was obtained. The profile of the output pulse changed compared with that of the input pulse. A time asymmetry of the output pulse profile was detected.
