Abstract: Calculations are made of the conditions for pulsed operation of a chemical oxygen-iodine laser with a high content of water vapor in the resonator. It is shown that a laser can operate in this regime without a cold trap and that cooling of the source of singlet oxygen by water evaporation is sufficient. The calculations give a specific output energy (measured relative to the mass of oxygen) amounting to 1645 J/g.
