Abstract:
A method for dynamic control of the resonator Q factor by negative feedback was used to increase the interaction time between the radiation and the active loss modulator. As a result, a train of stable bandwidth-limited ultrashort pulses of 70 ps duration and 3 mJ energy was obtained from a pulsed YAG:Nd laser. When the output energy was increased to 8 mJ, the ultrashort pulses became phase-modulated and their duration increased to 88 ps.
