Tomographic reconstruction of the spatial and energy parameters of laser beams

Abstract: A tomographic approach is suggested for the determination of the spatial and energy parameters of laser beams. This approach is based on reconstruction of the center of gravity position, the effective size, the focusing functionals, and the finesse (sharpness) from the brightness of the radiation scattered in the medium in which a light beam is propagating. The integral relationships make it possible to determine the relevant parameters and to bypass the stage of reconstruction of the intensity distribution. The effectiveness of this reconstruction process is investigated in a numerical experiment.
