Generation of a current in a laser plasma jet

Abstract: A theoretical investigation is made of the generation of a fountain-like electron current system in a plasma jet formed on the surface of a conducting target. It is assumed that the driving emf consists of the contact potential and the thermo-emf of the jet. A model of steady-state plasma expansion is used to find the distribution of the electron current and also of the total current closed across the plasma-target interface.
