Investigation of the transverse distribution of intensity perturbations by probing lens-like media with laser radiation

Abstract: The results are given of an experimental investigation of the transverse distribution of the intensity modulation depth obtained by probing lens-like media with laser radiation. The experiments were performed using He–Ne and Ne gas discharge cells with a modulated discharge current, illuminated by an He–Ne laser beam (λ =640.1 nm). The results are of importance in studies of the formation of the spectra of spatial fluctuations in the emission from gas lasers.
