Abstract:
Relaxation oscillations in a solid-state ring laser, operating under type 1 self-modulation conditions, were investigated for the first time both theoretically and experimentally. There was no degeneracy of the frequencies of the relaxation oscillations throughout the full range of the frequency nonreciprocity. The dependence of the frequency of the relaxation oscillations on the ring-laser parameters differed considerably from the corresponding dependence in the case of unidirectional lasing.
