Abstract: The results of measurements of the unsaturated gain K0 under conditions of supersonic mixing of reagent streams show a satisfactory agreement with the corresponding results of calculations made using a quasione-dimensional mixing model and assuming that the Cl + H2 → HCl + H reaction is speeded up by vibrational excitation of the hydrogen molecules. The recorded values of Ko indicate that an H–H2–Cl2–CO2 laser with supersonic mixing of the reagents may be developed but the energy parameters are considerably inferior to those of similar DF–CO2 and OD–CO2 lasers.
