Fine spectral structure of the depolarized component of the Rayleigh scattering of light in glass-forming liquids

Abstract: A phenomenological theory with two tensor relaxing parameters is used to calculate the fine spectral structure of the depolarized component of the Rayleigh scattering of light in liquids. It is shown that the nonlocal nature of the relationship between the permittivity of the liquid and the hydrodynamic variables has to be taken into account. The calculated results are compared with experimental data for a wide range of liquid viscosities.
