Switching of the emission wavelengths of a copper vapor laser

An investigation was made of the use of a birefringent filter for switching the emission wavelengths of a copper vapor laser. When just two wavelengths were present in the emission spectrum, a simple filter could be used: it consisted of two polarizers with parallel transmission axes and a birefringent plate located between the polarizers and oriented at the Brewster angle.
