Abstract:
Generation of the second and higher (up to fifth inclusive) harmonics of a pulsed garnet laser (4F3/2→4I13/2 transition at λ = 1.318 μ) was achieved by multistage frequency multiplication. The second harmonic was generated in an LiNbO3 crystal and the higher harmonics in KDP crystals. When the energy of the fundamental-frequency radiation was 30 mJ, the harmonic energy conversion deficiences were 10, 0.4, 6, and 0.2% for the second, third, fourth, and fifth harmonics, respectively.
