Abstract:
High-power quasi-cw lasing in the form of pulses up to 100 μsec duration as a result of an electronic transition in neon (λ = 585.25 nm) was achieved for the first time and its efficiency was ~0.4% when the excitation was provided by fast electrons from a low-current (up to 0.3 mA/ cm2) beam incident on a high-pressure He–Ne–Kr mixture.
