Abstract:
A numerical investigation is reported of one of the simplest classes of the autocorrelation functions of the intensity of pulses with a time substructure. This class is characterized by two very different time scales which are the durations of a spike and its pedestal, and by a pedestal with one local maximum. It is shown that such intensity autocorrelation functions represent no more than two typical laser pulses. The possibility of obtaining information on the characteristics of laser pulses with varying parameters from the average intensity autocorrelation functions is considered.
