High-sensitivity high-resolution pulsed CARS spectrometer

Abstract: A high-sensitivity pulsed CARS (coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering) spectrometer with a resolution of 3 × 10^–3 cm^–1 is described. Spectra with a resolved rotational structure of the Q branch of the v₁ vibrations of ³²SF₆ and ³⁴SF₆ molecules were obtained. Measurements were made of the vibrational-rotational interaction constant a and of the vibrational frequency v₁.
