Pulse-periodic electron-beam-controlled CO laser

Abstract: A report is given of the construction of a high-pressure (N = 0.4–1.1 amagat) pulse-periodic electron-beam-controlled CO laser with a pump pulse-repetition frequency f of up to 120 Hz. It is shown that, for N = 0.4 amagat (T ≈ 120 K), the lasing characteristics are not impaired right up to f0/f = 1.2 (where f0 is the maximum frequency). The average specific laser output power per unit active volume is ~2 kW/liter with an efficiency of 14%.
